You never know when you’ll need it! Like I said, microclimates are a real thing here, even within the city itself!.With this being said, it’s usually cloudy by the bridge so plan accordingly! However, overcast, foggy skies greatly reduce the shadows on murals and other pieces, so shoot there! August through October bring much better weather and is my favorite time to explore (and photograph) the city. Summer is chilly and don’t expect any epic sunsets from May to July! The fog typically rolls in by mid-afternoon, although it’s fun to chase Karl (yes, we even named our fog).
